Welcome New member Maevy... Glad you decided to join us...
What is your favorite quotes from the Show??
My all time favorite is.... "I'd like a dry martini, Mr. Quoc, a very dry martini. A very dry, arrid, barren, desiccated, veritable dustbowel of a martini. I want a martini that could be declared a disaster area. Mix me just such a martini." - Hawkeye
The Carry dialogue was also awesome
"I will not carry a gun, Frank. When I got thrown into this war I had a clear understanding with the Pentagon: no guns. I'll carry your books, I'll carry a torch, I'll carry a tune, I'll carry on, carry over, carry forward, Cary Grant, cash and carry, carry me back to Old Virginia, I'll even 'hari-kari' if you show me how, but I will not carry a gun!" - Hawkeye
It also had its touching quotes too...
"Listen, Radar, I guess you realize I'm kinda fond of you. Lord knows I've never met a soul I could depend on more, but above all that, you've been a damn good friend. Well, friend, it's time we said goodbye. Time you got on with your life. You've come as far as you can go here. You've earned your wings...now you've gotta fly." - Col. Potter
What are some of yours??

I realize that for a discussion group, we haven't really been doing much discussing lately. So I figured I throw out a random question into the void.
Do you think the earlier episodes were better or the later ones?
Me, as much as I do love the silly humour of the early episodes, I actually prefer the later ones, which are a bit more serious. I find in the early episodes the writers were really keeping with the mood of the books and the movie. They made fun of just about everything they could. The later ones tackled some more serious issues and had more of a tendency to end not-quite-so-well. They also made it more of a point I think to not always show Hawkeye in a good light. Like in the episode where Radar nearly gets killed on his way for a night on the town (don't know how to spell the town's name, so I won't even try). Hawkeye gets sick and has to leave the OR and then later yells at Radar. Or the one with the Swedish female doctor, where you really get to see just how Hawk thinks of women.
The later episodes are still funny, but I like that the plots get more serious and the humour really starts depending more on how the characters deal with the situations. Like Klinger becoming company clerk and decorating his office (now THAT was funny! Lol). Current Mood: contemplative

Book, Movie or Show?
Here's a general question I figured I'd send out into the void: which do you think is better, M*A*S*H the movie, the tv show or the book?
I've seen and read all three and personally I think the movie's dry and the book's simply way too short (I did love it though).
My favourite's the show because I simply love the characters on M*A*S*H and only the tv show really does them justice I think. I was wondering what everyone else's thoughts on that were. Current Mood: curious

Thanks for welcoming me Jeby! I was so excited to find out that this journal wasn't really dead! Yay, people to talk about M*A*S*H with!
So I guess I should introduce myself. As you've probably guessed, I'm a girl. I'm 21 and I'm a journalism student from Canada. I got addicted to M*A*S*H when I started working part-time in grade 11. It happened to be on when I got home from work and I started watching it. I currently have the first five seasons on DVD and about 11 VHS cassettes that I taped from tv.
I love Hawkeye, but I don't actually have a favourite character. I love them all equally: depends on which episode. Current Mood: yippee, mash!!

Jeby "Thank God for MASH" Mathew Current Mood: anxious
Hey, I noticed that no one's added to this community in a while, but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway. I'm a huge fan of the show and would love to debate it with anyone (my friends are sick and tired of hearing me talk about it).
